CABERNET SAUVIGNON SINGLE VINEYARD 188

L I M I T E D   E D I T I O N

2014

This exceptional 100% single vineyard varietal exhibits bold ripe fruit derived from very late harvest grapes, strong tannins from this one-of-a-kind extensive maceration, balanced oak drawn from its 20 month stay in French Oak barrels & deep intensity hinted at by its 17% abv.

about

BAZELET HAGOLAN WINERY

Seeking peaceful surroundings of profound natural beauty as well as a deeper connection to the Land of Israel than that offered by an urban lifestyle for himself and his family, Yoav Levy, the founder, owner and winemaker of Bazelet HaGolan Winery, moved to Moshav Kidmat Zvi in the Golan Heights from the center of Israel in 1986.

With its volcanic basalt soil (in honour of which the winery is named), high altitude and temperate climate, the Golan provides a terroir simply begging to bear vineyards. Inspired by this, Yoav decided to grow grapes for winemaking, beginning with the Cabernet Sauvignon variety. While he began by ceding his grapes to the winemaking industry, it didn't take long for Yoav to catch the itch to see the final product come to fruition by way of his own hand.

Beginning with making small quantities of wine as a hobby in the underground bomb shelter next to his home, he later proceeded, in 1998, to found the first boutique winery of the Golan Heights. Thus was the Bazelet HaGolan Winery born. With grapes of unsurpassed quality in his hands, Yoav quickly honed his winemaking skills and began producing wines of distinctive quality.

In 2004, he saw fit to finally bring Bazelet HaGolan under rabbinical supervision and, thus, all Bazelet HaGolan wines since the 2004 vintage year are Kosher and Kosher for Passover. Coincidentally(?), it was from that time that Bazelet HaGolan began being recognized as producing world class wines of the highest quality.

Today, Bazelet HaGolan Winery produces some 70,000 bottles annually in accordance with the fastidious standards of modern winemaking science as well as with the whimsical art and craft of winemaking which emanates lovingly from Yoav's heart & soul.

We invite you to visit us at the winery or to pick up a bottle at your local fine wine merchant and experience, first hand, the very best of the wines that the Land of Israel has to offer.

A BOLD & TRUE OENOLOGICAL EXPRESSION OF ISRAEL'S GOLAN HEIGHTS

All of Bazelet HaGolan's Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay grapes are grown in the rich basalt soil of Israel's Golan Heights.

The various vineyards are situated at different select locations ranging in elevation from 500 to over 1000m above sea level. Each vineyard, of course, has its own unique characteristics. The wines emanating from them are thus skillfully selected and blended in order to appropriately complement each other within any and all of the selections of our wines.

Totaling approximately 100 dunams, the vineyards produce a yield resulting in the annual production of some 80,000 bottles.

The newest vineyard, which saw its inaugural harvest in 2014, encompasses 50 beautiful dunams situated at approximately 750m above sea level in the east-central region of the Golan Heights.

Yoav Levy, founder, winemaker and owner of Bazelet HaGolan Winery, carefully monitors the vineyards throughout the year, ensuring that grapes are grown in accordance with our specifications. Over the years, we have grown to know not only the specific characteristics of each vineyard, but the characteristics of each row as well.
